Re: Cam info

big cams seem fun, but need to be matched to your gearing. You can go ahead and install a huge, wild cam, but you may not like it. You didn't specify how much retainer-to-seal clearance you have, either. The cams I'm about to suggest are going to want at least a 3.23:1 axle, and high flow intake and exhaust systems, including headers. You might be able to get away with a COMP DualEnergy 275, it'll have a mean sounding idle, but it's about the most cam you can hope for within the limits you set, and it'll pull well up to 5500 rpm, at which point your heads are the problem. If you want more driveability, but still a big cam, look for a Crane MaxVelocity 272. The Comp specs as 275/277, 219/229, 110 at 106, .462/.482, while the Crane specs as 272/284, 216/228, 112 at 107, .454/.480. I'd go with Comp, because you can order it nitrided. Nitriding is well worth the extra cost. But with this much lift, you may end up needing some "plus fifty" locks, which are cheap, but then to have adequate seat pressure you may need some slightly stiffer springs.

Re: Cam info

Also, .482" lift is pushing your luck with older stock rocker arms.
