cylinder head question
Im doing some work on my 84 chevy 350 and am going to put new comp cam rocker arms, valve springs, and push rods on the heads. I was thinking about pulling them off and getting them ported and polished. Is is worth it to do that cost and performance wise? Or should I just not worry about it? And if so, then were would be a good place to take them? I live in sonora,ca which is in northern california. Im also putting a 280 comp cam, edlebrock rpm air gap manifold, holly 750 carb, and a full MSD set up on it.

Re: cylinder head question
It's cheaper and better to buy a new set of heads. A set of new iron perfomance heads is around $600.00. Having those heads ported is around $1200.00. Unless you do it yourself.

Re: cylinder head question
It isn't hard to DIY port work. I've done several sets of stock castings. Run a search for Sitting Bull. He's got a well documented saga of porting 416 heads that's got a lot of good info. Depending on what castings you've got now, it may or may not be a better idea to find some 305 castings in a junkyard (smaller combustion chamber, slight increase in compression), or be it cheaper to just get some aftermarket castings. Depends on what you're after with the car and how much you've got to spend.
Don't know the specifics of emissions in your exact area, but it is California. Might want to make sure that everything you're doing is emissions legal before jumping into anything.

Well I don't know what year your engine is cause they didn't put a 350 in 84 camaros. But, assuming it is a pre 80's engine here is a link to a good set of heads.
