Tons of blue smoke.. but now its gone!
Hello all, I'm new here but have been reading all the threads about smokey motors because my newly aquired 1984 Z28 HO seemed to have serious blue smoke issues.
Most of the threads seemed to make me think i must have bad valve seals, so i was worried.
Just purchased the car from a 72 yo gentelman, all original and other than being very dusty from storage it is it mint condition (Now that it is cleaned buffed and waxed) with 95000 original miles.
It was like it had never been touched under the hood. I did a full sevice today and the blue smoke everyone said was oil is GONE.
All the plugs were the same, all even black but not too wet.
Would all of the seals go bad on every cyl? I didnt think so but here is what i did that completely stopped the smoke and has her purring like new.
-New plugs
-PCV valve
-Oxygen sensor
-Cap & Rotor
-Air filter
-Fuel filter
-Oil change w/filter - change from 10w-30 to 10w-40
-Cleaned EGR valve
I thought 95k was low miles for bad valve seals but the car is 25yo so i wasnt sure. Hope this helps anybody with blue smoke puffing out the tail.
It may not be your seals.

it could be other things than the seals, the engine could have been drinking oil through the pcv, or something else.
If the smoke is gone, and you are not out of oil
, leave it alone.
