gas smell in oil

i have a problem with my motor. the oil keeps on smelling like gas but there is still a good amount of lube in the oil. i had the carb rebuilt but when it was getting rebuilt the guy told me that the edelbrock 600cfm carb couldn't be ajusted to a richer or leaner ratio. unless u do it with the two idler screws or the choke.

Re: gas smell in oil

Wekk unfortunetly usually when you smell gas in the oil its a sign of bad piston rings. What happens is the pistons rings if they dont seal well when the fuel air mixture is ignited on the compression stroke the high pressures that result force gasses past the rings and contaminate the oil with "blow by gasses" causeing the oil to smell like gas. Thas can be confirmed with a compression check. Further more the edelbrock cars A/F ratio can be adjusted not only with the idle mixture screws but also by playing around with the jets and metering rods.

Just because your problem may be worse than what you suspected doesn't mean that these bunch of fellas still can't help you out. Believe me, they do.
