Really Bad Oil leak!! Help!!

Okay... it's not like an emergency. But I've been working on my '86iroc and finally got it running. Now I have a huge oil leak! It looks to be an easy fix though. It's leaking oil out of a bolt hole. Down by where a mechanical fuel pump would bolt, the hole is on the front of the block, and it's the upper hole. I bought the car not running. And somebody has taken all the smog and A/C out of it. So I don't know if there was a bracket there or not.
Think I should just put a bolt in the hole and not worry about it? I wouldn't see why chevy would make the hole go all the way into the block.... But I'm not an engineer either.

There's no bracket that goes there, it's just a cover plate. FYI many of the head bolts go through into the water jacket as well. It's a chevy thing I guess.... Just put a bolt in the hole and push ahead with your project.

I think I've read this problem before and They just said to put a bolt in it? It's where the smog pump used to be right?

Edit: after a quick search on the forums, I was able to confirm. if it's leaking from the top bolt hole right? it goes directly to where the fp pushrod would be going through. Yeah a bolt and sealer would work for sure.

Yea. I'm pretty sure thats where the smog pump stuff was. But I figured it was an easy fix. I went and got a bolt and put it in there. No more oil leak. I was worried for a minute when I saw that leak. I bought this car and have done nothing but fix other people's mess ups on it.

Believe me, I know the feeling. My RS is finally running mostly good. The gauges don't work, but I don't mind haha.
