Cleaning The Distributor

Got a used distributor from another vehicle that was running but now i need to clean it? should I go ahead and use typical degreasers or some wd-40 or would you guys recommend something else

I have always used carb cleaner or gas to clean mine with no ill effects.

Or brake cleaner - it totally evaporates with no residue.

Anything with a high naptha content will do the job.

For the inside, I use electronic component cleaner spray. Usually Radio Shack or Fry's has it.
