Help transmission ?
So today i put my rear end and i drove the car it runs great but my 700r4 auto trans takes a long time to shift. I checked the fluid the fluid is fine the trans doesn't slip it just takes for ever to shift. But if i put it in first and manually shift it up it shifts fine. It has been sitting for a very long time so I'm going to change the screen and put new fluid and some stuff called trans medic in it. If anyone can help me out on what's wrong with the trans please don't hesitate to say your 2cents.

Re: Help transmission ?
dude whats up, i hear your Throttle valve cable need to be adjusted. when it doesnt want to go into reverse that means the shift linkage cable from your shifter to trany(obviously) perhaps is bad, our old shift cables used a clip which often time fell out and we would resort to the new plastic clip shifter cable but wait, the old shifter bracket located on the tranny is made for the clip oh wow, then after amonth witht the new shift cable and old bracket it bends hmm.,..of coarse it would, you may need a new GM shifter cable, and a new GM lower shifter bracket. its designed way better. your tv cable is also out of adjust me, try searching my previous post on the tv cable. if not, ask me to repost them

or you can jack up the front end. place the shifter into neutral with the rear wheel clock, and loosen the shifter nut on the trans gear selector. center it, and tighten to torque sepcs in hayne manual. i totally fixed my crap that way

Re: Help transmission ?
It's not that it has trouble finding Reverse, (well it does, but I'm not complaining about that) it's that when it does get reverse finally the car barely moves even when 2500+ rpms are applied. It's in reverse, but really slow.

Re: Help transmission ?
I'm not sure. It's either a 3.42 or 3.73 rear. It's a "z/28" rear, that's about all I know. I know the speedo reads way high so it's not the stock 2.73.
