Sup guys, I got a tranny question

This is my first post to the board. im 22, live in Ky and have been in love with the 3rd gen camaro since i could remember. I feel so good right now, that I guess I feel like what a gay person feels coming outa the closet, because my camaro is finally here (but not in the best shape, lol) But anyways, I was wondering if a manual trans out of a 6 cylinder 1992 rs camaro would bolt up to my 1992 305ci camaro. thanks in advance and i look forward to getting to know you all.

Re: Sup guys, I got a tranny question

welcome to TGO.

first of all next time you have to put your thread in the right place. this being a transmission question it should be relocated to the transmission and driveline section.

but to answer your question. yes it will bolt up. the transmission in third gen camaros and firebirds is a T5 borg warner. from what i hear the casing is the problem with those transmissions, what happens is they tend to flex when alot of power is going through them. not making them very good transmissions for even a 305 v8. alot of people on here either swap in a t5, world class t5 or a t56 from the later camaros which is alot stronger and it offers and additional speed.

I should chime in here and tell you there are differences in the two versions v6 - v8. If i am correct the input shaft has a different spline count, you will have to use your bellhousing also. Like said above you can do it, but you will face a few differences going with a v6 replacement.
