Fuel pump mounting location? Why?
I'm tired of messing with this silly issue... I went from TBI to Carb and stuck an electric fuel pump under the car. I have mounted it as close to the tank as possible as instructed. The problem is.. between two hard lines you have about 4" of rubber hose. I had to splice into that house and run a huge freaking loop of hose to curve around and go back into the hard line just because well I cant fit the pump between 4" inches of space. This sucks cause the rubber hose will kink so I didnt even bother to knock holes in the sheet metal to mount the pump. Is there really a good reason to mount this thing under the car close to the tank or can I just put it under the hood, hook up my hoses with all the room in the world and be done with this? Its just.. slightly annoying to have the pump under the car like that... its almost worth it to drop the tank and install a low psi in tank pump...

Re: Fuel pump mounting location? Why?
Electric fuel pumps push a lot better than pull. Mounting it under the hood may not get enough fuel to the engine under hard acceleration.
Re: Fuel pump mounting location? Why?
first question,
whats preventing you from cutting back the steel fuel line enough to gain the required room to mount the electric fuel pump correctly?
next question
whats preventing you from upgrading the fuel line size or even installing a fuel cell.?

Hmm I just really hate hacking up the stock parts like that but yeah, I should just do it and stop trying to make a workaround. No need for a fuel cell real lol I think a stock tank and after market pump are good enough for me.

Why not use the factory in-tank electric pump with a return style regulator like the Mallory 4309?

Re: Fuel pump mounting location? Why?
lol easier done when you have fuel going to the engine!
Thanks all for the help and motivation to just do it.
