Hello, my name is Rodney and it looks like I am about to become a forum lurker around here. Now I dont wanna mislead anybody, I am a G-Body guy. I got an 88' SS Monte Carlo that gets all my attention and most my money hehe. But, 2 weeks ago we went to the big Houston/Katy gathering and she got a chance to look at a ton of F-bodys. My wife has fallen in love with the formula's and so we am on the look out. I have a few questions though. I am more familar with the camaro's than the firebirds and was wanting to know what the common problems in these cars are?

I have had 1 friend with a 92 Z28, and another with a 89 Formula. Both had 350's. Both needed transmission mounts around 155kish. The firebird had some steering box contact with the chassis, sound familar? Details would be appreicated please, as I never really knew what the problem was. Camaro had a pick up coil go out at 175k, and a fuel pump around 170k. The firebirds interior actually caught on fire at some point in its life, but not a drastic blaze, more or less just some smoke from the interior, which snuffed itself out aparently, anyone else had this problem? Anyway, I was just naming some of the problems I am familar with and asking for some more details on them. Thanks for any help.
