helper(vapor lock) fuel pump issues
hi, i have a 1984 z28 with a 350 vortec crate and a holley 650 carb. after many headaches i found that this particailar model camaro has 2 fuel pumps. the one in the tank is supposed to prevent vapor lock, which leads me to my problem. the helper pump is constantly running! and i cant unplug it and just use my pump under the hood cuz itll stall like crazy. so, i guess i need some advice on rewiring my tank pump so i dont have to keep unhooking my battery everytime i park.
thanx, mitch

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Sounds like you've got a stuck fuel pump relay, either internally fused somehow or another, or getting energizing power constantly from a sneak circuit.
I can't tell you exactly where to look for it, but I believe it is in the rear driver side corner of the engine compartment (I'd be more than happy to be corrected on this).

Re: helper(vapor lock) fuel pump issues
thanx for the reply five7kid. i fixed it today. i found the hot wire to the pump and ran it to my fuse box where i hooked it up to my guages. now it only comes on with the key turned. this is the only car ive ever seen with two fuel pumps. its really weird. i wish they couldve just made one powerful pump instead of using two, but oh well. its working now.
