87 camaro, fuel pump

i have a 87 camaro with 2.8 v-6 and the fuel pump wont run, i just got the car. i was told that it has been sitting approx 1 year

sorta, is it common for a fuel pump to stop working over time or if it quit before it was stored i was told the car ran fine before the trans quit

when i got my 87 trans am, it had been sitting for about 1 year and it had no problem with the fuel pump, but now i believe it is going out. I'm not for sure yet.

Have you checked the relays, fuses, etc.? Try jacking up the rear, disconnecting the plug at the fuel tank, and applying 12v directly to the pump wires to see if it's the pump or something else BEFORE you go to the trouble of replacing it.
