87 firebird acceleration problem
i just got a new 87 firebird formula (new to me) ive been brought up around fords all my life but realy dig this car. but i changed my oil, spark pulgs, basic tune up before i deciced to see what my first V8 had in store. so i gave it full throttle at about 45Mph, and at around 60Mph it totally lost power, sputtered. my carb was rebuilt about 200 miles ago so i guess my secondary's open up. what else could be my problem?
*and my radiator cap says 33psi, is that too much?*

Re: 87 firebird acceleration problem
yea i had just found the pressure for the cap shortly after i posted this. thank you, but as for me ive only been around cars for a ahort amount of time and i know the guy who did the carb hes a realy good mechanic. and i just drove it today (i changed the cap by the way) and from a roll about 15mph,full throttle, it got all the way to about 60 again and did the same thing. it idle's smooth. i will still concider that it might be the carb. if you can think of anything else it will help.

check and make plug are on tight open your hood at night make sure wires arent arcing. Did you check fuel pressure does your check engine light come on when it acts up? We are talking about a regular carb not a ccu one?

from what i was told the carb is a quadajet 2brl. engine light dosent come on. but ill check on the wires. but the wires are what they call "high flow" they are a little bigger than just stock. that could be an issue too.
