110mph Gage Cluster To 145mph. Help, Confused ! ! !

Hello there everyone, first of all thanks for looking in on my post.

Today I bought a 145mph gage cluster of a 92 Z28for $60.00 in the best condition possible.

My question to you guys is, do I need to do any special modifiacations to the gage cluster so it will read properly? Cause im confused on the part that if I put in the 145mph cluster would it be accurate to the 110mph cluster? Or do I need to change any sensors or cable's? Cause I dont want to be doing like 30 in the 145mph cluster and in the 110mph cluster it would read like 50 or so?

Any suggestion would be appeciated.

Thanks. Tony.

In your circumstances, the swap is plug and play.

Hey JamesC,

So according to you its just a plug and play? Does the computer on the car adjustes its self or so?

I also read a lot of the post you have done for this topic, I just didnt find anything that I was looking for.

Also I was trying to take of the socket bulb from the back but how the hell do you take those off? I try twisting and pulling that ddnt work and this morning I was looking at it very close and I saw like a lil clip in between. So now does that hold it in place? Or do I need to get some needle nose pliars to pull out the clip?

Thanks. Tony.

It should be plug-and-play. I'd worry more about the 190,000 miles that could be on the odometer in the replacement cluster.
Of course, rolling one back is nearly impossible by design...

Both clusters receive the same signal in pulses per mile. They interpret this into miles per hour.

I've never seen a socket that didn't twist out, though I haven't seen them all. The bulb in your case may be soldered to the socket.

Actually you are correct they do twist to left to take out. Where can I get these bulbs with the sockets at? And can I get brighter ones?

Thanks. Tony.

In my case I dont have to worry about that, because the odometer reads 130,000 on the one I bought for $60 and the one in my car reads 150,000 so I'm in good shape on this one?
