valvetrain questions.
I've heard that Hyd. roller lifters can be rebuilt, is this true? if so does anyone make a rebuild kit?
also, would I need self aligning rockers on iron LB9 heads?

Re: hyd. roller lifter rebuild?
you don't need a kit, just first be sure your rockers don't have any scoring on the outsides. Then disassemble them, one at a time, clean everything, and reassemble. I made myself a little j-hook tool out of an ordinary paper clip, the other end should be made into a loop by wrapping it around a pencil and twisting, This makes it easier to hold. BTW, get rid of the pencil after making the loop. On the hook end, you'll need to use needlenose pliers to get it close to right. There is no perfect. I've done hundreds of these lifters this way, they work fine. Just install, adjust the rockers, run an oil pump primer while turning the crank, then continue with getting the engine started. This is entry level stuff that any newb can do with confidence.

so basically, you're saying the lifter rebuild is more of a thourogh cleaning?
also do I need self aligning rockers on the iron LB9 heads though?

Re: valvetrain questions.
I believe 87 and later model LB9 heads require self aligning rockers. You will also need the narrow ones so that they fit with the center bolt valve covers. I know crane makes a set that is designed specifically for this application.
