L31 stroker
Has anyone used a L31 block for a stroker engine? I have read that the cylinder walls are to short, and a machinist said they are very hard to grind out for clearance. I have done a search but no luck. This is a 99 year block.

Re: L31 stroker
The block is exactly the same block that the L05 and L98 engines used. EXACTLY the same block.

Re: L31 stroker
There is no template which is why I posted the link showing areas of concern.
You trial fit your parts and grind until you have clearance.
Not all rotaing assemblies are the same so one size does not fit all

Thanks for clearing that up about the template. Someone told me he saw one but could not recall where. I will go with your idea it looks alots safer. I see you have 383 did you have to grind to get relief for cam?

If you have rod to cam clearance problems you can go to a small base circle cam

Re: L31 stroker
Even if you buy parts that are suppose to fit, it would be wise to make sure and clearance where necessary. Stroking usually, but not always, means there will be interference depending on the amount of "stroke" and the parts used. This should be normal operating procedure for an engine machinist if he says otherwise then you really need to find another "machinist."

Re: L31 stroker
I haven,t got the rotating assembly yet, is Eagle a good type? Their kit looks good for my budget.I also read that 7/16 bolts would make it better on grinding the block. So I need H beam instead of I beam?
