Rough idol

Car starts and runs really rough and will not idol .I put a new fuel pressure regulator in , and started it up.shut it off and check fuel pressure and it was to the repair manual says it should be. I let it sit for a couple of days,it starts with starting fluid and i shut it off ,restart while pumping fuel pedal and it starts and runs with rough idol... looking at the front of the intake plenum you can see the hole for the idol air control just in front of the butterfly's. it sounds like i have a vacuum leak but when i place my finger in the hole it dies do to no air into the iac witch is where i hear what sounds like vacuum leak from, well that's what it sounds like.checked for vacuum leak and no leak . the chip was burned with no maf or vats in the chip.restarts and runs with a ruff idol. I am stumped how to fix the problem or what to look for .this is my only ride and my girl is getting pissed that i use her car to get to work...and paying a friend to take my girl to school is really hurting my wallet. I dont have AAA to call or take to a gm dealer and pay out the butt to have them do it for me. SO PLEASE CAN SOME ONE HELP ME PLEASE. After reading some other posts i know someone can help me...one of the re post was from a person who worked for GM

Re: Rough idol

a good way to check for vacuum leaks is with starter fluid or ether..spray it on different areas of all vac. lines and when u notice an idle difference thats prolly the line w a leak in it.also check hose going to the brake booster.hope this helps.
