starter problems

hey i have a 84 camaro i have a pushbutton hookes directly to the starter the batt is at 12.6v so thats good but the starter barly cranks just barly winding the motor not enought to start it i have power to starter so im guessimg i need a new starter i was thinking of just grabing one from junkyard i have a 305 will one from a 350 match up as long as it has the two posts and would it be any chance its the solinoid

What's the voltage while it's cranking? It could be a tired battery, tired starter, or a bad connection.

Or, too small of a wire going to the solenoid. Inadequate voltage to energize the solenoid will give you the same behavior. If voltage is good, probably a failing starter.

it cant be the battery cause i pullded it out of car and started my truck right up with no hessitation i think it the starter cause it cranks real slow just like the batt is dead and im gettin the full 12v to start when i push the start button and after it cranks real slow it will just stop and wont click or even try to turn it over

It's either the battery, alternator, starter or the wiring between the two. You can take it by one of the parts chains, AZ, etc. and they will test the starter and alternator for free. A reman starter with a warranty runs around $50 or so.

yes, the starter will fit onto a 305. If you have power, but no cranking ability, change the starter
