original camshafts

Im in the process of switching the blown 305 from my 85 with another 305 from a truck. The original car motor casting number is #14010201 and the one from the truck is #14010203. The car has original 416 heads and the truck motor has #376450 heads. Im going to be putting the 416 heads back into the car but Im just wondering if the camshafts might be different between the 2 motors. Would it be worth it to swap it over also?

I would swap it over. Simply because you don't want to get that motor in there and then discover that the truck cam is less agressive than your original stock roller cam. They are usually not as good as the car's camshaft. Also, you may have to get your prom reprogrammed for the truck cam. Probably run you about 300 bucks or so.

Dont think the 85 had the roller cam yet..... This would be a golden opportunity to upgrade the bumpstick a bit though......

All the stock cams are so wimpy I would not bother.
87 F 305 auto 179 /194 dur .350/.384 lift
If the truck motor is factory roller cam block ,consider putting in a stock LT1 cam ; can be had over in parts FS for next to nothing ; cheap upgrade
Stock LT1 202 /207 dur .450/ .450 lift

The difference in specs would be so little the ECM won't notice
