781 head valve spring installed height dilemma!

I recently purchased a set of ported and rebuilt 781 heads from a "friend of a friend". The heads only had three 1/8 mile passes on them and I hope a got a reasonable deal at about $800. The heads were set up for a solid roller drag car and I want to swap the springs for a hyd roller street car. Upon disassembling the heads, I realized that while the heads had nearly new Ferrea 6000 valves, they were stock length 3/8" valves. The valve spring installed height for these heads was 1.84 on the intake and 1.86 on the exhaust (although they had shimmed it to run 1.8 with Comp 944 springs). I was hoping to run Lunati's 74855 beehive which have a 1.95 installed height and require a 0.060 tall spring seat (so I really need 2.010 installed height). So what should I do?

1) do I buy some longer valves? If so, how much longer and which ones? +.100 won't get me to the 2.010 height that I need for the beehives, and with 2.19 intakes and 1.725 exhausts with 3/8" stems, the pickings are pretty slim. Will the longer valves mess with my geometry?

2) do I machine the spring seats deeper? If so, how much deeper? When is hitting water a concern?

3) are +0.050 valve locks a good alternative? I keep hearing about issues with these locks interfering with the rocker arm because the valve tips aren't long enough.

4) do I just suck it up, ditch my beehive ambitions, and find a double spring that I can run at about 1.8 to 1.85 installed height? I really wanted to give those beehives a try given the very positive reviews on this board, and so far, finding a double spring with that height and the right rate for my cam (lunati 60622) has not been easy. BTW, I've got plenty of retainer to seal clearance.

Your opinions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I still have a lot to learn about cylinder head internals.

Thanks,
