Hello people. My car is in the process of a paint job right now, and yesterday i went to move it onto the painting platform at my work, and my car wouldn't start. It's an 82' with a 454 in it. I had H.E.I. in it origionally, but my distributor was crap, so i bought a Mallory Uni-Lite distributor and a Summit Racing Coil. I hooked it up (which im pretty posotive i had it hooked up correctly) went to start it, and had no spark. Then i walked away for a few minutes and the coil went up in smoke. So lucky me i have a million coils at my house, so now ill try one of those first. Does anyone know if the power wire form an H.E.I. will work with a coil, or do i need a resistor or ballast on that wire now? I could have also had a bad ground, but i would like to get some info first. Thanks

 

Do you have or could you post a link to the documentation of how its supposed to be hooked up? From there we could figure out how to hook it up properly.
