What Camshaft is right?

I want my car to be in the 12's for the 1/4. I am planning on putting in...
373 gears (With limited slip)
Stealth intake kit
Camshaft (Valve springs all that fun stuff)

My question is what is a good cam that can provide a good power boost with fuel economy still be decent and not to much of a "clip clop" sound. More like a mild cam

Is the rest of the engine stock?Heads? If so its going to be tough.A few guys have hit 12.9 or so on stock heads and cam.Think they went with a 2800 stall, sticky tires and tuned the h3ll out of it.What plans for heads do you have. You could call comp and tell them what your working with and see what they say.

I forgot to add the Stealth Intake manifold with runners with stock heads. I also have a shift kit

Re: What Camshaft is right?

Your heads will be the bottle neck now so i wouldnt over cam it.comp cams web site or calling them,or a more experienced member may be able to help you better.Id think about a lt4 hot cam, lenginfelter 219 maybe.Something that will work with your intake but not against your heads too much. You may want to try to nail down a decent set of vortecs and do the supporting work to them. They can be found pretty cheap.Your intake will breath to 6K,a cam within that opperating range would be good. Not sure how that will work with stock heads.

It's more money, but you'll see better results staying with the stock cam and upgrading your heads, honestly.Vortecs come to mind, although I don't personally feel like they are the bargain some folks think they are.Patriot has some nice aluminum heads at a very reasonable price, and they would support future upgrades very well.
