picked up block with spun bearing should I
just picked up this block for 50.00 it has 1 spun bearing should i put a new crank in this ? doesnt look bad to me. Should i replace the rod also doesnt look bad. any help would be great. my son and i are going to pull the tpi a305 and put in this 350. I was thinking of going 383 stroker but from what i have read this will take some machine work is this true? also what ever way we go do you need to have the crank balanced let me know what you have all done with something like i have here. remember we would like to keep the cost down if we can have a good thanksgiving all.

If a main bearing spun, chances are the main cap is warped from the heat. You'll need a new main cap and the block will need to be line honed.
If a rod bearing spun, it's better to just replace the rod.

Happy Thanksgiving.
Machine work is expensive, but new parts (today) are not. In the old days that was not a case. Take a look at this crank - if it is a forged piece (highly unlikely in newer blocks) then it is worth saving by turning it down. Cast cranks are cheap and same goes for SR connecting rods with upgraded bolts. Re-doing stock rods with better bolts is not worth the money. Research (Jegs, summit) this through several aftermarket suppliers first before throwing 'bones'.
