Nine out of ten times when I make a right turn I hear and feel this clunking-grinding sound coming from the front drivers side of the car. Yesterday I had to slam on the brakes to a complete stop from 50-0, after that the sound was constant for about 1/4mile down the road. This makes me think it has something to do with the brakes or suspension. I replaced all the pads and calipers about 11 months ago and all 4 rotors look smooth. Recently I have also been noticing a shake and pull to either the left or right when I brake at high speed (i.e. on the highway when someone cuts you off ). But I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I apologize if this is in the wrong board, but I'm unsure if it's a brake issue or not.

 

Check that your wheel bearings are still properly adjusted.... and that the caliper bolts didn't decide to back themselves out...... Did you turn the rotors when you did your brakes? Do you get any kind of pedal pulsation with the brakes applied?

 

i just replaced my own bearings(inner & outer), calipers, and while she was tore apart, new pads. Big difference!

 

I'll check at the bearings this weekend. Any tips for removing them? And I did have the rotors turned, and I haven't noticed and pulsation in the brake pedal.

 

The bearings will fall out. You'll have to drive the races out.

Replaced both the driver and passenger side inner and outer bearings, and greased up all the joints. Also I decided to completely bleed and replace all the brake fluid, which I found bits of dirt and junk in my brakes lines. Now the problems seem to be resolved, hopefully it stays this way. Thanks for the ideas.

Arrrghh. The sound is back. The shaky brakes and pulling to one side or the other is gone. It almost feels like the brakes don't release all the way. Could this be related to the master cylinder at all?

 

I didn't see that you replaced the flex lines. Since you've eliminated most of the other strong possibilities, I wonder about them. It might explain the junk that later came out during bleeding and the feeling like a caliper isn't releasing.

 

Check the tranny mount, mine had 2 of the 4 holes holding it to the subframe stripped and the bolts were real loose, clunked like a ***** and I could swear it came from the front when driving
