magnaflux

i just got a 400 the other day and the guy said to have it magnafluxed and if it had a crack to bring it back to him and get another block but i was wondering how much magnafluxing is. what is the highest that someone has ever had and what is the lowest? thanks Ty.

Costs about $40. Bring the block to your machine shop and tell them to hot tank and magnaflux it and go over it with a fine tooth comb because it's been overheated or something like that.
They'll look carefully at the deck and bores and journal areas and let you know. With a hot tank it'll probably be around $100 or so.
