A/C High Pressure Switch Question

OK, I am putting a 305 TPI from an 85 into my 91 Camaro. In order to keep electric gauges and for other reasons, I am keeping the computer & wiring from the 91. The A/C compressor for the 85 does not have a high pressure switch on it, just the two terminals that go to the relay. The 91 had a high pressure cutoff that was mounted in the compressor that seems to turn off the clutch if open. I can't just put the 91 compressor in as the 85 is v-belt rather than serp.

Here is the question I have... Since the compressor is not designed for a high pressure cutoff, is it safe to just bypass the high pressure connector on the wiring harness (hardwire on) or is there some way that the 85 system monitored the high pressure side that I am missing and need to include?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A/C High Pressure Switch Question

After a little further digging, I came up with a better solution. The 85 compressor has the spot for the high pressure switch, so I can just transplant the switch into the compressor.

Re: A/C High Pressure Switch Question

The 91 was a V-6. Even if it wasn't, I understand that a serp bracket system will not mount to my heads without drilling. I may do it one day, but just wanted to keep the changes as few as possible for now.

Ah, you never mentioned it has a V6 in it now. Your user info says "305 TPI".

A serp setup will bolt to an '85 engine without drilling.
