LT1 intake on 305?
Hey guys, I was just wondering if it's possible (or even worthwhile) to put a LT1 intake on a 305 engine. I have a 91 T/A with a 305 TPI engine and I noticed that the LT1 intake looks pretty similar. I know that 350s usually have that intake so that's why I'm asking. Or would I be better off just using an aftermarket TPI intake? What would an LT1 intake require?
Re: LT1 intake on 305?
It is possible, although you will not have an EGR valve when finished. The LT1 intake can be adapted to any Gen 1 SBC, including the 305. It's not a vain effort, either. That same intake on a "lowly" L99 (only 265 cubes) in 1994 allowed the little engine to make 200 HP and 245 lb·ft - More power than an earlier 305 TPI on 40 fewer cubes. It certainly can't hurt the 305 if paired with the right cam and heads. Best of all, you can always bolt it onto a 350 (or larger) SBC in the future.
There WAS fairly decent information on the www.LT1Intake.com site but that appears to be defunct now.

Gotcha. So you're saying it's a bolt-on for a 350 engine?

Get the TPIS Miniram intake. Same design as the LT1 with provisions for a distributor.

They used to say "not for use on 305s", but thats probably 'cause you won't see the same kind of gains with the smaller engine.

Re: LT1 intake on 305?
Maybe... depends on the cam too I guess. Are 305s capable of putting out decent power? Who knows, I was hoping to get close to 300 hp with my 305 some day with bolt-ons. Fuel injected of course. Passing emissions would be nice too.
