Transmission: Automatic
'89 Camaro RS problems
Hello need help. 2 problems with '89 camaro rs. starter engages only when jumped. Also fuel pump engages for 4 seconds and then stops. fuel not getting to T.B. are problems related? trying to resurrect car please help. thanks, Ricscamaro.

prob 1 - do a 
on VATS, and read the tech articles on VATS
prob 2 - fuel pump should 'prime' for a few seconds with key on but not cranking - this primes the injectors - then after start, pump should run continuously. try swapping fuel pump relay out.

agree with above....check vats, and all fuses, RELAYS and wiring, maybe ignition switch.. Also, is the car starting and running for four seconds when pump quits, or just running for four sec. when trying to start. It supposed to prime and run when engine is running.
