powersteering pump removal

powersteering pump removal

i been racking my brain able removing my powersteering pump to free up some belt h.p. what all is needed to run with out one? can i just plug the holes on the steering column area, or do i need some other things to run "manual" steering?

unless you're running skinny front tires, and this is a drag-race only car, i.e. you'll never ever have to parallel park, i'd recommend you keep the PS. just my 2 cents, that's all.

I went to manual steering on a vette, it has wide tires (255), "sports" steering box ratio, and requires parallel parking. it is no longer really street driven, it's a bear to drive. in retrospect, not a good decision, and unfortunately, not easy to undo.

now of course, on a slant-6 Valiant, manual steering not a problem: econo-tires, many-turns lock-to-lock, light-weight on the front end.
