Help building a mild 383 stroker
Help building a mild 383 stroker
Hello I want to build a mild stroker with tons of low end torque.
It will be a 5500rpm max motor. Going in a 1993 silverodo,1500.
3.73 gears, I want to use a mild hyd./roller cam, something in
the comp-cam XE family. And I would like to used a tight stall for
a build 700r4 trans. I would like to have around 440hp if possible,
but mainly lots of torque, around 470ish at 3500rpms. I also need
to know what cast iron heads, what size runners, and intake manifold
to use. Compression wise, what ever I can get away with on 87 octane.
Can someone help? Thanks

Re: Help building a mild 383 stroker
I only have one recommendation at this point: use Vortec heads.
They'll help you meet your torque goals. Making 440 hp is not going to happen, nothing to do with head choice, just considering your objectives of strong low/mid rpm behavior, and a limit of 5500 rpm.
More info is needed to answer your other questions. There's a lot of factors that influence one another, like the cam versus the CR.
BLUETA, why not share with everyone else your ideas? I find people on this board all the time that have more/varied experience than I have, and invariably find more food for thought; I thought maybe you'd be another good one.
