Fuel pump not priming?

My fuel pump isnt priming when i turn the key on? It will start however after the oil pressure switch builds some pressure, but it will die soon after. Ive replaced the pump, the relay, filter, pressure regulator, oil pressure switch, and the fuse by the battery.. Any ideas on why it isnt priming? Oh and im getting a code 54 from my SES which should be a given. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Being Fuelish

With car off, jump battery + to pin C of the pump relay (or the under-hood test connector) and listen for pump whine.

Post your findings.

How bout those nitwits too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime, and the nitwits that need headlights for a little rain

Re: Being Fuelish

ditto.... wat he said.

can only be the pump relay or the pump itself.

Re: Being Fuelish

Code 54 = fuel pump circuit low. If the pump and relay are known to be good, it could be some worn out or damaged wiring.

Re: Fuel pump not priming?

When my TBI car had that problem it turned out to be the thick, 10 gauge wire that's part of the positive battery cable. It had corroded through at the side post terminal. I used a big eyelet connector to hook it back up at the battery post and it fixed the problem. Took me a whole day to figure out. The wire was still attached to the battery cable, so I didn't notice how corroded it was until I wiggled the wire a bit and it fell out of the battery terminal. I had already replaced the fuel pump relay too.
