E-30

I am just wondering if anybody has tried E-30 in any of their cars and has noted a power increase. A former instructor from my Auto program came in to my class the other day and did a presentation on ethanol. For GM's, E-30 ethanol had the best gas mileage and the best price. On the pumps it says E-30 is for flex fuel vehicles only, but my instructors says it does absolutely no harm to vehicles newer than 1986. The former instructor says that the 30% blend of ethanol added a perfect amount of oxygen to the fuel mixture, and many street racers noticed an increase in power. One of his close friends owns a gas station and noticed that younger people started filling their sport cars, or muscle cars or whatever with E-30. He started asking them why they were doing it, and they said it gave them more of a boost. So to repeat what I first stated, has anybody here used E-30 and noticed a difference in power?

Re: E-30

I haven't used it, but I don't think you'll notice much or any increase in power unless you have a high compression ratio and need a higher octane fuel or are running boost.

Re: E-30

I have not used e-30 but the instructor sounds like he is full of BS, especially about the gas mileage.

It would be good to run in a high CR engine.

Try it and let us know if I am wrong.
