running with no vacum advance?
i want to switch out my old stock vacum advance distributor with a mallory dual point that does not have vacum advance. will it run the same with out the vacum advance or what is needed. its a carbed sb

It will run. The vacuum advances the timing when accelerating.....a LOT of people run without one. I have no vacuum advance on my carbed 327 chevy that's in my mustang (yes ford).......runs great,
you just have to set the timing advance a bit different if you want. have the centrifical weights open the timing a bit faster.

and you could go pull and plug the vacuum line to the distributor you have in there now, and drive it to see that it doesn't affect it that much.

Vacuum advance works by using a engine vacuum to advance the timing at low to mid engine load for fuel economy and better drivibilty. No or little engine vac when accelerating at WOT, so the timing advance returns to the base advance timing in addition to the mechanical advance.
