hesitation when revving. please please help!
1982 maro sport/305. when im driving, it really hesitates when taking off or when im driving around 40-50 and when im on the gas the car jus stop accelerating and actually slows me down alot. i take my foot off the gas and try to give it some gas and it goes a lil and then starts to jerk. (takes off then stops and keeps doing it.) when i stop the car at a light or stop sign it will idle ok but when i try and take off it dies completely and sometimes doesnt start back up. just now when i was trying to find out what was wrong i was revving it up and i can still feel a hesitation while im just revving it.(car is in park) ive changed the fuel filter and pump and still does it. can someone please help me!! im really lost!!

Is it carbureted? If so it sounds as if it's the accelerator pump.
Look down the barrel of the carb while it's running and have someone rev the engine, upon accelerator pump activation additional fuel is sprayed down the barrel, a faulty accelerator pump will have either a lacking additional spray of fuel or none at all.
Shops rebuild carburetors and can replace the accelerator pump, or you can replace the carburetor all together.

Well it's supposed to spray an additional amount via the accelerator pump.
