Need help! New distributor and EGR harness

I just installed a new distributor on my 5.7L. In the process of removing the old distributor, i broke on of the weak tubes on the EGR Harness. I didnt know what i broke at first, i figured to try and run the new distributor anyways. I did the top center...lined up the mark on the crankshaft pulley to the "0" on the indicator as well as putting the rotor to face between the 1 and 8 on the cap. I could not get it to fire up. My question is does the broken tube on the EGR harness have anything to do with the car not firing? I need some help, if it is not the EGR, i might not have gotten the rotor at the right spot. Any help would be appreciated.

Was it on the compression stroke #1 TDC? .
# 1 Piston comes to the top twice when pointer showing TDC
Dist could be 180 degrees out
