EGR question

hi all, i have a 91 camaro z28 with a 305 TPI vin code F with a 5 speed manual. Ive been hearing people talk about getting rid of the egr and that it's beneficial for horse power and all around performance. I am not too far away from doing a full freshening rebuild on my engine along with getting rid of the smog pumpo and smog tubes and all my A/C junk. Is the EGR thing true? and if so how do i get rid of ALL my emissions stuff due to the fact that my state doesnt require emmissions on my car. And if in fact I do get rid of everything how will it affect my computer?

The EGR thing is not true. Deleting it will not increase power, deleting it will require retuning the computer.
