LT1 Cam'd 305 dyno or 1/4mile times?
If anyone has an LT1 cam in their 305 car and documented a performance gain (dyno or 1/4 mile time) please post here. I just want a definitive answer for what to expect from this mod not just "itll feel faster", or "sounds faster". If this info is already somewhere please let me know, and anyway how about a thread for before and after specs for all the common mods?

It doesn't work that way because it will be different in every situation due to small mechanical differences, and different states of tune.
On a completely stock 305 carbureted & automatic car, you may only gain 10 to 15 RWHP if everything goes right. This may translate into 2 or 3 tenths and 1 or 2 MPH in the quarter mile.
On a less restricted (intake & exhaust) 305 engine, you may gain 30 or more RWHP from the swap if things go right.
Without proper tuning there is no guarantee of anything with such a cam swap.

how much tuning would be involved in a carbd app, new rods and hangers?
and does this cam require higher head flow then the stock 305 heads can deliver? or is it the same answer 1+1= 3 or more
by require i mean "Have to have"

Re: LT1 Cam'd 305 dyno or 1/4mile times?
Heads arent a "have to have" but they would help alot, from what I remember the LT1 cam is pretty mild, when I had my 305 I had put a 204/214 420"/442" cam in it and had it tuned(TPI) but didnt notice anything, I also had 2 broken compression rings so I guess it doesnt count lol. What are your plans for the car? You can do like stated and get a better intake manifold, maybe carb, do full exhaust and make sure everything else is in good working order you might be happy with the cam. Its all in what you want.
