crank question

I was getting everything ready to take to the machine shop and started looking at the crank from my Vortec 350 and noticed on one of the journals it has a deep groove cut in it and was wondering if this is how its supposed to be and if not should I just replace the crank. I have never done Chevy engines before so if its normal I just don't know

Re: crank question

That crank will have to be ground, probably by a lot, too. A new crank might be better.

Re: crank question

that was what I thought, I may have found one locally but wanted to be sure since I hadn't ever rebuilt a checy engine that it wasn't supposed to be that way (even though I was pretty sure it wasn't. Its very deep and even though I was going to get it turned anyway I don't want it to be that much and will just replace it
