yeah i know but usually they require machine work.i dont know if ill stick w/ these heads,just bought car and am still sorting it out but the smoke is very embarassing. thanks for your reply!

Umbrella's are a short term fix, but I feel your pain on the smoke issue.
New or fully rebuilt heads might be your best bet when you compare labor spent versus results gotten.
It really depends on your plans for the car and engine.

i herd umbrella seals are used with larger than stock springs and positive seals are better with double springs

When I did my 87 the intakes had positive seals on them from the factory, the exhaust had o-ring seals. I put replacement positive seals on the intakes, and unbrella on the exhaust. The exhaust wasn't machined for positives.
