Code 44 question...
Code 44 question...
I have a 1983 Z28, LG4 "H" code engine. I am attempting to get it running good again and have done the following:
1.) Rebuilt E4ME carb
2.) New EGR
3.) New EGR Solenoid
4.) Replace all vacuum hoses
5.) New plugs and wires
6.) New cap and rotor
7.) New O2 sensor
It is running much better after all of this but I am still getting a Code 44 "Lean Exhaust" even with the new O2 sensor after it warms up. The sensor is a Bosch 12014, which is supposed to be a OEM replacement.
Any ideas on what I can look for or do to fix this code? I noticed that after it throws tghe code, if I shut the engine off, then restart it, it runs great. But then the check engine comes bak on at it starts running sluggish. Maybe a bad O2 sensor even though its new? I did find one parts website on the web where they said this was NOT an OEM replacement on the 83 H code engines, but was for the other 83 engines. All other websites say it is a replacement. Suggestions on what to do next?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Code 44 question...
i dont know if this helps or if its even the same setup, but mine kept throwing the same codes, i replaced my MAP sensor and o2 and it started doing what yours is, ended up having to replace the t-stat which i hadda take my upper plenum off (3.1) and figured out that the gasket on that was bad letting in air maybe? eather way after everything was put back together it ran perfect and no more codes. hope it helps but like i said from my 3.1 to your engine its probably a different problem
