Engine Trouble...

I don't know whats going on... i got my alternator tested today along with my battery and they both tested and passed... I just replaced the spark plug wires... I put new battery cables on the car... All the wiring for the head lights is working fine but for some reason the car will not run right. it will start but if i put it in any sort of way of moving it meaning Drive or reverse it dies unless i have my foot on the gas before i shift... And it was running a lot better yesterday. But the other problem i have been having that is related i think... is that when ever i put a load on the engine... Ex headlights heater blinker stepping on the brakes and turning on the break lights... it sputters and runs really rough and basically wants to die. And if you step on the gas when its running rough like that you will surge forward lose power surge forward again and lose power then surge again... meanwhile your voltage is barely enough to keep the car running... What in the world is going on with my 86 Trans am? It is fuel injected with the TPI and its a 305.

Re: Engine Trouble...

Any stored codes? Inspect the EGR valve. Check out the IAC.

Re: Engine Trouble...

run your fingers over the wiring harness wires on everything and see if there are any breaks or kinks in the wiring, also make sure your ground wires are secure

Re: Engine Trouble...

Nope there are no codes stored on the computer other than a lean exhaust code which didn't show up until it started running badly. And the EGR is fine I already repaired that so i can't be acting up... I have been meaning to retune the IAC though...
