What is this????

Ok so in the process of changing the ful pump this broke off from 1 of the lines. I went to all the local parts store and not only could they not get it, but they couldn't even tell me what it was. I figure it has something to do with pressure because it blocks the line and is springy on the back side. There is supposed to be was looks like a tub on the other side(thats the part that broke)

The reason i ask this is i'm getting no fuel through my lines and when i got under there i noticed this broken. If my fuel pump was running would this stop me from getting fuel in my lines? if not 2nd question

I hear my fuel pump running. Is it possible to accidently wire it backwards and it not work? I can hear it running.

Re: What is this????

Vent valve for the tank. That, as far as I know, is a junkyard only item.

I dont know about wiring the pump backwards, never tried it. That may be the problem, the broken part pictured above isnt causing it.
