new motor build question

Its going to be a 383. With the milled vortecs I have, it will put the SC right around 11:1. But my DC with the cam will be around 7.3:1. My quench will be .040-.045". My question is, will the motor be able to run on pump gas with that much comp. and iron heads?

Re: new motor build question

That DCR is definitely low enough for pump fuel. It shouldn't be a problem until your DCR goes above 8.5:1, and I think there are some motors I've seen around 9.5:1 still on pump gas.

Re: new motor build question

So it doesnt matter if the heads are iron or alum. I just keep hearing the folk lore that high comp. and iron heads dont mix. I thought that with such a low DCR it wouldnt be bad. Im still learning all of this stuff so bear with me.

Im from the cincy area in ohio. Just noticed you are from ohio.
