Fuel tank vent valve 10033125

I have seen the posts on this already. My question is, can I use a "universal check valve" from any parts store? I ask this because this part after shipping through a local dealer and gmpartsdirect.com is $40. If I have to pay that, I have to pay that. Just checking my other options, if any.

Is this the vent valve that is connected to the charcoal canister? If so I can send you one for 10 bucks. Worked fine on my camaro but I converted to carb so I no longer need it.

No, it is the white valve at the drivers rear of the car connected to the tank.
