Car: 1990 Trans Am
Engine: 305 TPI L98 cam
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42 eaton
PICKUP COIL REMOVAL HELP!
my pickup coil is bad and i have heard that i will need a press to remove the stator to get to the pickup coil. what tool will i need to do this? and is there any tricks to this? thanks for the help in advance

There's a pin at the bottom of the shaft that you can press out. Pressing it out removes the drive gear allowing you to pull the whole shaft out of the housing. Once that's done, the pu coil is a breeze to remove.

i got the distributor apart and replaced the pickup coil and now i have no spark. i checked the resistance of the pickup before and it was ok and now the coil is open according to the multimeter. i have a new pickup that i am going to install tomorrow. what can cause the coil to to short out without ever being used?

i got the car to run but now i have an intermittent no start. i replaced the module also. i checked the coil wires and plug and all are right. when it does run i have a bad misfire on cyl. 8. i have spark when it doesnt start. fuel pressure is 45 psi with key on and 35 when running i am stumped do you know of anything else that i can check?
