Ramjet 350 cam change to larger cam???

Has anybody ever changed the stock GM cam in the ramjet350 out for a bigger one? Say, cc 503 or even a thumper cam. The ram jet has the MEFI 3 ecu. Any suggestions? I know the springs need changed out to do this. Are there any issues with the vortech heads that come on it doing this? What about tuning issues? Any advice would be great.

The heads will have to come off to machine the valve guide boss tops for higher valve lift.
Drill and roll pin the rocker studs. Good time to port them while they are off.
The latest vortec castings out of Mexico are not as good as the older Canadian made castings. (96-2000 L-31)
Porting them will help. This motor is really hurtin' for a cam as the Ram Jet cam is pretty mild. Can't help you on the ECM. Apparently there are proprietary software un-lock codes required to do a remap on the fuel /timing curves.

Yea, I did a little more info digging on the heads and found the same thing about the machining of the valve guide bosses. Well it looks like it is going to get some head work.

That motor looks like it's just BEGGING for a bigger cam. Like an LT4 HotCam or similar (after you get the heads prepped for more lift).

Who's cracked that ECM? That looks like the biggest hurdle- certainly not going to be very happy with the results if you can't tune it to match the new cam.

I'm interested in this topic as well.
