Help with coolant sensor please

Hi folks.
First, great site here. Heres my problem. i have recently aquired an 85 K10 with about a 1990 350. I'm slowly redoing the hack jobs that the kid before me did. I noticed that my temp guage wasnt working so I started investigating. I found that the coolant temp sender down between the spark plugs was in bad shape. I replaced it. No problem. Then I went up to the coolant temp sensor up by the intake and half the clip is broken off with one prong and the plug is still secured. I bought a new one and screwed it in. Heres the problem. There is absolutley nothing in the area to plug or splice the two wire pigtail into. What should I do? Ive looked and looked to see where the old one is and I cant find it. Thanx!

its hard to even tell. Its been seperated and electrical taped...I'm slowly unraveling and straightening things out though. I couldnt even tell you by looking at it. Interestingly, absolutley everything on the truck works.
