march power steering bracket??
hey trying to install my march power steering brackets and ran into an issue it seems the holes for the lower bracket dont line up to the pump. it looks like the pump needs to be turned to line up the holes is it possible to turn the pump? or am i gonna have to find a pump that works?
im gonna double check the part numbers tonight since everything is at my friends house but according to march when i ordered the brackets and pulleys they gave me the right part numbers.

Re: march power steering bracket??
OK - to answer the first question sort of ... I think (not sure) that the pumps can be rotated on some.
BUT - I also know that there is a difference in pumps through years. I had a 1987 pump (like yours I'm assuming from your sig) - and it wouldn't work with those March (or similar designed) brackets - that pump was missing the hole in the back, as well as not lining up with the holes in the front.
So - I went back to a 1992 pump, in which the resevoir is rotated slightly different - allowing the brackets to clear the edge of the resevoir. $52.99 + $7 core at Autozone - and it does fit those style brackets.
Lastly - I did install the 20165, and it worked out great with that 1992 P/S pump. I did try a "20160-looking" bracket that I got cheap off ebay, but alas, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and in this case I got junk. It did look identical to the March 20160, but no matter what I did, it just wouldn't fit in there right.
Even the 20165 takes a bit of finessing - I assume they all do - for whatever reason P/S brackets are not as easily designed and manufactured to work well as the alternator brackets are - you'd think if we could put a man on the moon ....
The 20165 just needed some playing with though. Adding a washer here, taking one out there, etc. Took me probably 4-5 installs to get it just right - a PITA bending over the hood doing it over and over again until it's just right - but alas it worked out great.
Ought to work out great - $105 + $12 shipping for a few hunks of aluminum and a few bolts - but after the 4 10-hour days and countless cash I've wasted trying to avoid payiong March that, I could have probably had the entire March setup to begin with! Next time I won't be so tight - besides, cash is only good for spending, right?

You may very well be able to - maybe just try the counter at AZ or wherever, take the brackets with you, and ask to see pumps from several different years, like a 72, 75, 80, etc Camaro and see if any match up.
