Car missing and quiting in damp/ rainy weather

I have an 87 350 tpi engine out of a corvette. its recently been running like crap and missing everytime it rains and quiting while idealing in the rain. I took it to the shop this week and they replaced the coil and some wire coming off of that. It ran ok and I thought all was well until it stormed this evening and now Im sure its during the damp weather. Some one had mentioned it could be the O2 sensor or the plug wires when I did a quick google search. I'm kinda unexpierenced in this kinda issue. Any advice?

I had a 91 S-10 that had a similar problem, a new distributor cap fixed it. You could give that a shot, it could be cracked and getting moisture inside.

Re: Car missing and quiting in damp/ rainy weather

My 90' Camaro did the same thing as well. I replaced the distributor cap. That wasn't it.
I ended up finding a rogue vacuum hose that lead from the engine and hanging close by the front tire. So if a new cap doesn't fix it. Try following hoses.
Good Luck!

Another vote for distributor cap here. I had a similar issue before and the cap ended up being cracked, allowing moisture in.

My old 5.0 f150 used to do something like that. If it was cold or raining, it ran like ****. Cutting out to point where you couldn't even drive it. Ran perfect on a nice warm day tho.

Re: Car missing and quiting in damp/ rainy weather

I've been scratching my head for a few weeks now about this. Replaced the distributor cap coil cleaned my idle air control sensor, and a bunch of other stuff. So, I finally decided to take it somewhere to get looked at (big mistake). They checked for error codes which cost 43 dollars then they cut the plug that goes into the coil off and replaced it with a new one. They didnt even solder and shrink tube the wires just crimped and wrapped losely in electircal tape. THye called me told me it was running fine. So i picked it up. It was 200 dollars total, which I had no problem with until 45 minutes later when a thunderstorm blew through and the whole thing started acting up agian! Anyway I went home, fixed the wire job they did and started looking the whole car over for a vacum leak or exposed wire. After several hours of failure I found a connector going to the ECM and despite my skeptisim that that had been the problem, after I plugged that connector in properly the car has been running fine for about a week and its rained and been humid and changed tempatures. I'm pretty sure that was the problem the whole time. Thanks for help and suggestions
