cant find casting number but has"515"stamped on both sides of block near core plugs and just above oil press. switch.has "416" heads.any ideas on roller non roller what year or what my cr might be .bought as an alledged 89 vette 350 w/ "old style double hump heads".already figured that was bs.i think ti might be an 85 ho motor.thanks!

 

416 Is a 1980-1986 305 58cc cylinder head with 1.84"/1.5" valves. Look on the back of the block on the left side for a casting number, just above the area where the transmission is attached. There may be crud or grease obscuring the number, so clean it if you have to. That will give us a little more information.

 

tried,had others try it only thing i can find is "GM5.OL".casting # is supposed to be near it but ther is nothing else there.found # on rf pad all i could make out was 12202987?but "515" is stamped all over this thing!thanks!

 

It's a 305 then, and the 416 heads were on the carbed motors in the 80's

 

Yeah GM5.0L is GM 5 liter. 305 SBC. Flat tappet carb motor. Definitely not a 350 and DEFINITELY not a corvette motor.
